Information about COVID-19

Dear valued St. Paul Eye Clinic patients,

Thank you for trusting St. Paul Eye Clinic for your eye care needs! When you come in for your next appointment, you will see we have implemented several changes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Walz has recently lifted the statewide mask mandate for those individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The CDC has kept their recommendation in place for healthcare facilities to require masks for all vaccinated or unvaccinated patients over the age of 2.

St. Paul Eye Clinic staff will continue to wear masks and require all patients over the age of 2 to wear a mask at all times while in our clinic.

To help ensure social distancing, an appointment is required for a clinic visit. An appointment is strongly encouraged in our Optical. If we do not have an optician available, we may ask you to come back at a later time or wait in your vehicle until we have an optician available to assist you.

1. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be asked a series of questions regarding symptoms, exposures and COVID testing. If you have any symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, etc), if you have been exposed to anyone with a positive case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days, have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or are awaiting results of a COVID test due to symptoms or exposure, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.
2. If you have a mask of your own, please bring it along to your appointment – although we ask that your mask does not have an external valve as these protect you but not those around you. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. It will be required that you wear a mask for the entirety of your visit within the clinic.
3. We require that patients arrive for their exams alone. Patients can only be accompanied by one other person if they are needed for communication or physical assistance. Any visitors accompanying a patient will also be screened for COVID-19 symptoms & exposures and must wear a mask.

For Pediatric Appointments Only – the above policies apply but in addition, the following protocols are in place:

1. Pediatric patients require longer dilation time. To limit exposure time in the clinic and to allow children to remove their masks while dilating, we will send the parent and child to the car to dilate.
2. Any patients age 2+ are required to wear a mask at all times while in the clinic.

We are closely monitoring any updates to COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC and Minnesota Department of Health to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and doctors. If You Have Tested Positive For COVID-19 And Need Routine Care.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, routine care should be scheduled at least 2 weeks after testing positive. Surgery should be scheduled 2 weeks after testing positive (if not considered an urgent surgery).

The risk of COVID-19 exists in every public space where groups of people are present. According to the CDC, this disease is highly contagious and can lead to severe illness and death. People with underlying medical conditions and senior citizens have a higher risk of contracting COVID-19.

By visiting St. Paul Eye Clinic, you are voluntarily assuming all risks related to the exposure of COVID-19 and consent to abide by all instructions posted and verbally given while at the clinic.
